Parade of Homes Virtual Event

Parade of HomesSM

Virtual Preview: May 15-27, 2020
Models Open: May 28-June 14, 2020

Models Open Thursdays-Sundays, Noon-6pm (with directionals)

We are excited to invite consumers to experience the Parade of Homes virtually. The Parade of Homes virtual event is an opportunity to connect you with qualified homebuyers through the power of the paradeofhomes.org with the addition of more in-depth virtual tours and online walkthroughs of your homes. Based on extensive planning, review, and feedback, the Parade of Homes Virtual Preview Event will kick off May 15.

The Parade of Homes Virtual Event will promote online traffic to the Parade Home profiles on our website, where consumers can connect with builders in a variety of ways, see photos and virtual tours, and schedule private or virtual appointments. Housing First Minnesota will be pursuing an aggressive and sophisticated marketing effort to advance the virtual Parade of Homes. This will include extensive social media, strong and targeted digital marketing, digital billboards, and earned media.

Now, given Gov. Walz’s Executive Order 20-56 on May 13 regarding retail reopening, we can now add the opportunity to invite attendees to visit your models. Starting Thursday, May 28, the Parade of Homes will add three weekends to relaunch marketing for new homes open to homebuyers with access limited to 10 people at one time.

Updated Form to Contact a Builder
A new consumer request form on all home entries with two showing options: virtual and private appointments. Builders select options they have available and designate a contact person.

Here, visitors can request virtual showings, one-on-one appointments, or more details on a particular home. The consumer requests will be delivered via email to the contact person the builder has designated.

Private Appointment

  • Consumers can request a private appointment to tour the home. Their contact information will be sent directly the builder contact.
  • Housing First Minnesota recommends that all builders continue to utilize virtual showings and meetings by appointment only. Similarly, the Minnesota Association of REALTORS recommends strongly against open houses for its agents and is not providing open houses on the NorthStarMLS. Please be sure to follow recommended cleaning and safety procedures at your model homes.

Virtual Tour: Scheduled Virtual Visits

  • Conducting a scheduled virtual visit with homebuyers allows them to ask questions throughout the tour and tailors the tour to the individuals. Provide contact info on the backend of your home profiles and homebuyers can request a one-on-one virtual visit with your team. Their details will be sent directly to the builder contact.

Requirements
The foremost consideration is the safety of our attendees and members.

Safety Plans
As a consumer-facing business, you must follow the guidelines set out in Gov. Walz’s Executive Order 20-56, which require that you have a safety plan in place to ensure the safety of your team and guests. All consumer-facing businesses of all sizes throughout Minnesota will be doing the same. You may create your own, or you may modify this template provided by the state here.

All participating builders with models open May 28-June 14 will be required to sign off that they have completed a safety plan as mandated in the governor’s order.

We offer the following practical tips that you may wish to include in your safety plan:

  • We strongly recommend that all hosts and consumers wear masks.
  • Recommend a traffic flow through the home for guests (ie: enter through the front door and exit through the garage).
  • To reduce the surface contact, leave cabinet doors open, lights on, and rope off small rooms, if possible
  • Have disposable one-time use gloves available should a guest request them.
  • Post your safety cleaning process inside the home for guests to view (ex. Surfaces, door handles, etc. wiped down every hour).
  • Provide taped markers every 6 feet on the walkway leading to the home so that if guests need to queue outside, they are aware of the distance.
  • Limit the number of patrons allowed inside to no more than 10.

Safety Signage
All builders will be provided with a front-lawn sign with safety recommendations for our homebuyers, such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and not touching surfaces. These signs will be distributed to all builders who have marked their homes as "OPEN to the public May 28 - June 14."
